The WE-CARE Project or the Women Economic Empowerment and Care Project is a 19-month project which spans from February 2017 to June 2019. It is a project shared by six organizations under the guidance and funding of OXFAM Great Britain, Unilever and Surf. The Pambansang Koalisyon ng Kababaihan sa Kanayunan is tasked to lead the advocacy in the National level.
UNPAID CARE WORK
It aims to build support to the advocacy on unpaidcare work that would eventually result to coming up with policies and programs that recognize, reduce, redistribute unpaid care work. The project also aims to create a wide public opinion and support on women’s unpaid care work and its contribution to the economy and development. Constituency building and coalition building are being done to develop capacities of poor urban and rural women, advocates and champions can broaden support on the advocacy. Advocacy and campaign activities are also part of the strategies of the project to achieve the desired outcome which is: Decision-makers (including government, service providers and private sector) increasingly recognize the positive role policy and practice can play in addressing heavy and unequal care work.
